It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
