Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior political figure stated the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
